Dispelling The Most Common Bodybuilding And Exercise Myths

by Dane Fletcher

It is about time we dispelled some of the myths which have made many people to fail in there quest to transform there body physique and improve there health. Some of these myths include;

1. In order to lose weight you need to use fad diets

This myth is the main reason why many people have not managed to lose weight. When you go on fad diets, the body usually goes into starvation mode. When it's in starvation mode it will start to burn muscles instead of fat so that it can preserve energy. As a result of the decrease in muscles, your body metabolism also slows down. The decrease in body metabolism will make you gain weight since your body is not burning enough calories.

2. Exercise is a waste of time if you don't prolong the workout sessions

This myth has caused many people to be unable to sustain there exercise program. When you are undertaking aerobic exercises, you should not train for more than 25 minutes. When you train for more than 25 minutes you will be promoting catabolism. Catabolism is a process where you start losing your body muscles.

3. Yoga is completely safe

Yoga exercises are a very good form of exercise. You need to prepare yourself both physically and mentally if you want to avoid getting injuries when training. You should ensure that you have a fitness instructor who will be able to guide you on how to undertake the workouts effectively.

4. Aerobics are the only exercises which will help you lose weight

Aerobics exercises will make you lose weight but they are not the only form of exercise which can make you burn fat. Weight training exercises can also make you lose weight. In fact weight training is the best exercises than aerobic exercises in helping a person to lose weight. The reason is because whey you train with weights you will be able to shed weight permanently. Weight training helps increase the lean body muscles in the body. When your lean body muscles increases your body metabolism also increase. An increase in body metabolism means that your body will burn more calories and thus you will be able to lose weight.

5. Water fitness programs should only be used by old people

According to research when you undertake water fitness programs you will be able to lose weight and stay fit as well. Many top athletes also implement weight fitness programs in there exercise regimen. 6. Overweight people can't benefit from exercises

If you think that you can lose weight through dieting only then you are greatly mistaken. You cannot be able to lose weight by dieting alone; you need to exercise as well. If you do not exercise you will not be able to elevate your body metabolism. If you do not increase the rate of your body metabolism you will not be able to lose weight. You should therefore undertake various exercises such as jogging, cycling, and weight training exercises as well.
